Perhaps one of the greatest rewards of meditation and prayer is the sense of belonging that comes to us. TWELVE STEPS AND TWELVE TRADITIONS, p. 105
That’s what it is – belonging! After a session of meditation I knew that the feeling I was experiencing was a sense of belonging because I was so relaxed. I felt quieter inside, more willing to discard little irritations. I appreciated my sense of humor. What I also experience in my daily practice is the sheer pleasure of belonging to the creative flow of God’s world. How propitious for us that prayer and meditation are written right into our A.A. way of life.

More willing to discard little irritations – am gona remember that through today. Clever.
I think I discard little irritation because my level of serenity is better when my spiritual condition is strong. It’s strong from prayer and meditation. I’m so glad I belong to AA today.
I talked about this today in our “Living Sober” meeting. The sense of belonging I get when I meet with my friends of AA is overwhelming. These are people who truly love me and accept me for who I am. There is no judgement or recriminations. They are true friends who are living 24 hours a day just like me, although we are from very diverse. Today I am having problems connecting to work because of heavy rains. In my past life, I would be totally stressed. But today I consider this a minor irritation. It is what it is and I have no control over it, so I think I will meditate some and enjoy the sound of the rain.
